Warning this is a serious picture heavy post! If you’re not in the mood for photos-a-plenty you may wanna turn back now….

So back in August the boy and I had ourselves a little holiday down to Cornwall for a week. Of course it rained/was grey & overcast for 70% of the holiday but we still had an amazing time.. it’s the British way right?!

So… first up we camped in Looe, at Bay View Farm Camping site for one night. The views were stunning, well they were for the few minutes the fog cleared and we could see the view… I must admit, the holiday began pretty damp and miserable, the only way we could cheer ourselves up was a trip to the monkey sanctuary.

For Christmas my lovely brother and sis-in-law brought Maxwell and I a gift voucher from Canopy and Stars. We chose to stay in the amazing Roundhouse. I wrote a short piece about the roundhouse here if you wanna read more about it. Basically it was a rustic and beautiful iron-age roundhouse nestled in Bodrifty Farm. The owners had left us fresh flowers and wine. The lovely thing about it was that in addition to the authentic roundhouse, there was also a modern ‘treehouse’ which had a proper kitchen and bathroom so it really was the best of both worlds… It was perfection! The rain was even nice to us and gave us a short break to enjoy a rum in the sunshine for a bit before continuing it’s downpour. 2 days of heaven right there…

DSCF3337 DSCF3341 DSCF3342 DSCF3343 DSCF3344 DSCF3345When we begrudgingly left the Roundhouse, stopped to say hi to some cows and pick some wild flowers then we headed to Treen in Penzance and the wonderful hippy campsite at Treen Farm. This site was wonderful, on the top of a cliff with the most incredible cliff side trek down to a secluded beach… the views were breathtaking and the beach was stunning… we were so lucky the sun choose to come out for us for a day. We really needed a bit of sunshine.

There were some cute little artist studios on site too which were cool, I kinda loved the painters stuff!

We also got to experience the incredible Minack Theatre. Carved into the rocks on a cliff over looking the sea it is one of the most inspiring places I’ve been too. I’d planned ahead and booked us some tickets and we spent an enjoyable evening wrapped up in many layers, not minding the drizzle enjoying hot chocolate and shakespeare by the sea. If you ever find yourself down that way you must go… you can thank me later…

And then we made our last stop of our mini holiday… bored of slightly damp camping we treated ourselves to a night in a beautifully quaint b&b over looking Padstow Harbour. The bed was huge, we had a cute little balcony and a bath…. never has a bath felt so good! haha… We also decided another treat was in order so headed to Rick Stein’s famous Seafood Restaurant and indulged in an amazing 4 courses! This was such a treat to end the holiday! DSCF3584 DSCF3585 DSCF3587 DSCF3591 DSCF3592 DSCF3594 DSCF3597 DSCF3598

On our very last day we took a boat trip and saw some seals… it was pretty darn cute! And there you go the end of our holiday… Looking back over the pictures I’m impressed with how much we squeezed in. It sure was exhausting but we sure did have a lovely time! I thought I missed a hot sun/abroad kinda holiday last year, but looking back, this was kinda special too, damp, exhausting, but a trip I will always remember!  And let’s be honest, any trip that includes Rick Steins fish & chips is alright by me!
